Oz sizing (cups)
Cup capacity in fluid ounces — common sizes are 8oz (small), 12oz (regular) and 16oz (large). Lids are matched to the cup's rim diameter, not just the oz size.
Cup sizes in food service are quoted in fluid ounces (oz), a capacity measure. The common run is 4oz (espresso/tasting), 8oz (small), 12oz (regular) and 16oz (large), with 6oz and 20oz filling the gaps. The oz figure tells you how much the cup holds, not its physical dimensions.
That distinction matters for lids. Lids are matched to a cup's rim diameter, not its oz rating — and several sizes in a range often share the same rim, so one lid can fit, say, both 8oz and 12oz cups. Always check the stated lid/rim compatibility rather than assuming a size match.
When ordering, line up your cup sizes with your drink menu and confirm which lids fit which cups, so you're not stocking more lid variants than you need. Getting the rim system right keeps your cup-and-lid inventory simple and avoids mismatched leftovers.
