Lunch Box Sizes: Small to Extra Large Takeaway Boxes
Packery's PLA coated lunch boxes come in four sizes: small (110x90x64mm), medium (152x120x64mm), large (197x140x64mm) and extra large (197x140x90mm). The small, medium and large sizes also come as a lunch box with a PLA window. All are sold in cartons of 200, from $0.35 each for the small coated box to $0.71 each for the large windowed box.

All three windowed boxes share their outside size with the matching coated box, so you can switch between window and no window without changing how you portion.
Which lunch box size suits which meal?
Measure your real portions rather than guessing from a size name. A simple method:
- Plate up your three most common orders exactly as they go out.
- Measure the footprint and height of each portion, including any sauce or garnish on top.
- Pick the smallest box that fits without pressing on the food when the lid is closed.
As a starting point:
- Small (110x90x64mm): a side, a single pastry, a slice of cake or a small snack serve.
- Medium (152x120x64mm): a light lunch, a salad side or a breakfast item.
- Large (197x140x64mm): a full main where the food sits fairly flat, such as a schnitzel with salad.
- Extra large (197x140x90mm): the same footprint as the large but 90mm deep instead of 64mm, for stacked or heaped meals like rice dishes with toppings or loaded fries.
Because large and extra large share a footprint, they take up the same space in a bag or on a shelf. The extra large is the one to reach for when the lid on a large box would press on the food.
Should I choose a lunch box with a window?
Choose a window when customers pick from a display or a grab-and-go fridge, or when staff at the pass need to see what is inside without opening the lid. Choose the plain coated box when the food is made to order and goes straight into a bag, as it costs less per item at every size:
- Small: $0.35 plain, $0.47 with window.
- Medium: $0.49 plain, $0.61 with window.
- Large: $0.60 plain, $0.71 with window.
There is no extra large windowed box in the range. If you need extra depth, use the coated extra large box.
How many sizes should I stock?
Most kitchens get by with two or three sizes rather than all four. Build a size ladder from your menu:
- One size for sides and small serves (small).
- One size for your standard main (medium or large, depending on your portions).
- One deep size for your biggest or tallest dishes (extra large), only if you have them.

For sandwiches, the Takeaway Container – Sandwich Wedge (Carton of 500) is 122x72x122mm, cardboard + PLA with a clear section, at $123.90 per carton of 500 ($0.25 each). There is also a PLA Takeaway Container – Heat Seal Sandwich Wedge with Coating and Window (Carton of 600) at 123x123x72mm, $252.75 per carton of 600 ($0.42 each).
For meals sold by volume, the white and kraft coated rectangular containers come in 500ml to 1000ml capacities, in cartons of 300. For example, the PLA Takeaway Container – White Coated Rectangular 650ml (Carton of 300) is $99.00 per carton ($0.33 each), and the Kraft Takeaway Container – Coated Rectangular 1000ml (Carton of 300) is $120.00 per carton ($0.40 each). - Cafés selling cake, pastries and sides: the Coated Lunch Box Small, or the Lunch Box with Window Small for a display counter.
- Lunch bars with a standard main: the Coated Lunch Box Medium or Coated Lunch Box Large, depending on portion size.
- Grab-and-go fridges: the windowed Medium or Large, so customers can see the food.
- Kitchens with tall or heaped meals: the Coated Lunch Box Extra Large.

How do I order?
Everything is sold by the carton, and each product page shows the carton price and price per item. There is no minimum order. Delivery is metro $35 flat, free on orders over $750; regional $75 flat, free over $1,000. Delivery time is 3–5 business days to capital cities and 4–6 business days regional. All orders are prepaid online and prices include GST. Unopened full cartons can be returned within 14 days of delivery (customer pays return freight), and damaged or faulty items are replaced or refunded free.
